These terms govern your use of Muba ("the app"), published by Hugo Vanstalle. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

The basics

Muba is a workout tracking app. You can use it to log your training sessions, track your progress, organize your workouts, and compare your progress with friends. We provide the platform; what you do with it is up to you.

Your account

You need an account to use Muba. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you think someone else has accessed your account, contact us immediately at legal@muba.app.

When creating your account, you agree to provide accurate information. One account per person.

What you can do

  • Create workout templates and programs

  • Log sessions and track your progress

  • Add friends and share your progress with them

  • Attach photos, videos, and notes to your sessions

  • Use the exercise library and alternatives

What you cannot do

  • Use the app for any illegal purpose

  • Attempt to access other users' data without their permission

  • Upload content that is harmful, offensive, or violates someone else's rights

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app

  • Use automated systems or bots to access the app

  • Impersonate another person or create fake accounts

  • Use the app to harass, bully, or intimidate other users

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Your content

You own everything you create in Muba: your workout data, your templates, your programs, your photos and videos. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

By using the social features, you grant us a limited license to display your shared content to the friends you've chosen, within the app. This license ends when you remove the content or delete your account.

Subscriptions and payments

Muba offers a free plan and a paid plan (Muba Pro).

  • Free plan: Full workout tracking with no limits. No credit card required.

  • Muba Pro: Additional features including AI-generated programs, smart progression, and wearable integrations. Available as a monthly subscription, annual subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase.

Payment processing

All payments are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not directly handle your payment information. Subscription terms, billing, and refunds are subject to the policies of the respective store.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. After cancellation, you retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free plan. Your data is never deleted when you downgrade.

Lifetime plan

The lifetime plan grants access to all current and future Muba Pro features for as long as the app exists. If Muba ceases to operate, lifetime subscribers will be given reasonable notice and, where possible, the ability to export their data.

The app is provided "as is"

We work hard to make Muba reliable, but we cannot guarantee that the app will be available 100% of the time or that it will be completely free of bugs. We are not liable for any data loss, though our offline-first architecture is designed to minimize this risk.

Muba is a workout tracking tool, not a medical or fitness advisory service. The information and suggestions provided by the app (including AI-generated programs) are for informational purposes only and should not replace professional medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise program.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Muba and Hugo Vanstalle are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Paris, France.

Muba ("we", "our", "the app") is published by Hugo Vanstalle. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and profile information you choose to provide (age, weight, height).

Workout data

Everything you log in the app: exercises, sets, reps, weights, rest times, notes, photos and videos attached to sessions, workout templates, and programs.

Body and health data

Weight, height, and age that you enter in the app. If you choose to connect Apple Health or Google Fit, we access the health data categories you explicitly authorize (such as active energy, heart rate, or workouts). We never access health data without your permission.

Gym and equipment information

Information about what equipment you have access to, which you provide during setup or in your settings.

Social data

Your friends list, shared sessions, and any data you choose to make visible to your friends within the app.

Technical and analytics data

Crash reports, app performance data, device type, operating system version, and general usage analytics. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.

Push notification tokens

If you enable notifications, we store a device token to send you push notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Why we collect it

  • Account information: To create and manage your account, and personalize your experience.

  • Workout data: To provide the core functionality of the app, track your progress, and enable features like pre-filling weights from your last session.

  • Body and health data: To personalize recommendations and track your body composition progress. This data is only used within the app.

  • Gym and equipment information: To suggest relevant exercise alternatives based on what's available to you.

  • Social data: To enable the social features you opt into, such as comparing progress with friends.

  • Technical data: To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and understand how the app is used so we can make it better.

  • Push notifications: To send you relevant updates like PR celebrations or reminders you've configured.

How your data is stored

Your workout data is stored locally on your device first (offline-first architecture). When you have an internet connection, it syncs to our servers hosted on Supabase (cloud infrastructure based in the EU). This means your data is always available to you, even without internet.

Who can see your data

Your workout data is private by default. Nothing is shared unless you explicitly choose to share it.

If you use the social features, only the friends you add can see the data you choose to make visible. There is no public profile, no public feed, and no way for strangers to find or view your data.

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share your personal data with advertisers.

Third-party services we use

  • Supabase: Cloud database and authentication (EU-hosted)

  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for subscriptions

  • Analytics and crash reporting tools: To monitor app stability and usage patterns (anonymized data only)

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You can request a copy of all data we hold about you.

  • Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.

  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your account and all associated data. We will do so within 30 days.

  • Portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.

  • Objection: You can object to certain types of data processing.

  • Withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent for optional data collection (like health data or push notifications) at any time.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, we delete all your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data (which cannot be linked back to you) may be retained for product improvement purposes.

Children

Muba is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect.
